Guilty Pleasures

Ok, I confess...

I love covers.

So, in celebration of that and the fact that I only have one more final to do, here is a Grooveshark playlist I made. It's composed completely of covers.

Did I forget any good ones? Let me know in the comments below, and I will add them!

I'm a Poser

In fact, I try to strike some new poses at least once a week.

I'm taking a short break from posting about travels and burgers (Yes, soon I will post about going to Paris, Brugge, Brussels, and some new restaurants!).

I've been *trying* to do yoga for a long time. I signed up for classes at my university last fall, but I had to move them to this term due to a professor changing the schedule of one of my classes. I'm still *trying*, partially because I am working on some projects that keep me from going every week, and partially because, well...I don't always quite get the right pose.

But that's the beauty of it.

Why do yoga?
  • It's relaxing
  • It's a good workout (No, really it works your muscles like crazy)
  • It forces you to concentrate on something other than work and projects
  • It forces you to make time for yourself

I'm sure there are more reasons, even scientifically proven ones about decreasing sports injuries, being more flexible, what have you. The bottom line is, I finally found a work out that sculpts my body and my mind instead of just making me sweat and turn red. An added benefit? No running!!! (Sorry runners, it's just not my thing to run for the sake of running.)

So here are some more resources for finding fun poses so you can enjoy being a poser like me!

Game of Thrones!

As many of you  know, Game of Thrones has started again.

This means I will be patiently waiting anxiously waiting for each new episode to air. Between episodes, I've been taking in as much fanfare as I can by following GoT on Facebook. They ever-so-graciously pointed me in the direction of Join The Realm, a great site that lets people create their own GoT sigils and see sigils made by others (including House Ninja Turtle, House Balboa and House Oreo.

So, I thought that I should join in too! House 'Lona (from my screen name, Not Alone in 'Lona) is proud to present our sigil!

Just imagine there's some Coke with a slice of lemon in that chalice!

So, how about you? What would your sigil be?

P.S. Apparently "Gangnam Style" sensation Psy has a new song, "Gentleman." It is supposed to be released tomorrow (Friday), but below is a preview. What do you think?

Viaggio in Italia: un antipasto (3 part)

1. Pisa - November 1, 2012 (Part 1)
2. Florence - November 1 & 2, 2012 (Part 2)
3. Rome & The Vatican - November 2 & 3, 2012 (Part 3)

Once we arrived in Rome, we met our AirBnB hosts outside the station and walked to the flat where we would be staying during the rest of our time in Italy. I haven't spoken much about Airbnb on the blog before, but we have used it for every trip we have taken in Europe thus far. Additionally, we also had our home on the site during the Super Bowl last year. I want to make a small aside about how indispensible this service is! The experiences have been wonderful: we have made great friends, seen places we would have never seen otherwise, and we did it for a fraction of the cost of a hotel. If you would like to check it out, use this link. If you do, we will both get a discount on our future travels!

We're almost there!

Little treats awaited us at our home away from home!
We decided to see the Colosseum and the Forum. Unfortunately, the hours had just changed for the winter season, and we could not see the inside of the Colosseum on this day. It had *just* closed before we arrived.

We didn't let that stop us from continuing to explore. I'm not entirely certain that we had a plan. We just allowed ourselves to get lost.

Cats love Rome. They were everywhere.

More kittehs!

What was all the commotion about at the Pantheon? We think we saw the Pope!

Dinner is served!

Who could pass up gelato?

Eventually, we made our way to the Trevi Fountain. A certain somebody in the group said that it was good to drink the water since it came from an underground spring. Later, a taxi driver said that the water is dirty and bodies had been found at the water's source. According to Wikipedia, however, the fountain's water is recirculated with pumps.

Will throwing my coin ensure a return trip to Rome?

After visiting the fountain, we found the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Plaza). We were excited to find an embassy.

Although we knocked, they wouldn't let us in!

It's okay. We found the beautiful Barcaccia Fountain and proceeded to take copious amounts of photos in typical tourist fashion.

Rohan later filmed a video of the group singing and dancing on the Spanish Steps. It was quite fun!

The next day, we visited the Vatican.

And, after standing in line for what felt like forever, we toured the Vatican Museum. We ended up rushing through it in order to make it back to the Colosseum before our flight back home.

Rohan - Thinks he looks cool

Kshiteesh & Rohan

It seemed odd to smile here, but it's just something we do for every pic.

One of my fave pics of Will

He may look sweet and peaceful in the pic above this one, but Kshiteesh is one mean  arm wrestler!
So, having finally gotten a taste of Rome, we boarded an always lovely (sarcasm) RyanAir flight home. Hopefully my coin throwing skills will land me a chance at coming back for more than just "an appetizer" soon!
